I'd like you to meet my new friend Binod! I made his acquaintance on a tiny winding road in Jodhpur, where, tattered and faded with begging bowl in hand, he was playing his gourd flute in hopes of collecting small change from passerby. Despite the broken reed on his instrument, I could tell he had extraordinary talent, and I simply had to ask him how he came to be such a state of deprivation.

'You see, Madame' he told me, 'the world today isn't what it used to be. The kids these days just aren't interested in classical music. I tried once to change my style to fit the changing times, but these old melodies are dear to my heart and I cannot let them go unheard. Time was when I could make a good living playing concerts to some of the most famous personalities - now I cannot even repair my instrument or buy a new hat!'

Touched by his story, I took him home - always ready to help a struggling artist, it was the least I could do to sew him a new hat and trousers, spruce up his vest, and add some fresh paint to his features. I even fixed his instrument so he can preserve his beloved songs!

Now Binod spends his days gazing out the window, getting inspiration for new tunes, and practicing his instrument diligently. He's impatient to begin performing again, and needs a patron! Binod is an excellent showman, always ready to play a tune for a gathering of friends, and his jaunty, unsinkable smile will brighten up any room.

All of Binod's new garments are made with vintage pieces to preserve his shabby chic. He begged me not to mend the hole in his trousers, though - it reminds him of his best performance ever, when he played so well that the audience swarmed him, begging for autographs - and accidentally tearing his garments in the process!
