Smitten cushion in natural linen

This 'smitten' cushion is made from a mix of vintage, upcycled and new materials.

I appliqued a heart shape by hand using a blanket stitch in orange cotton thread. The heart itself is made from green and orange vintage floral fabric, whilst the background is an old cotton napkin with some embroidery and hand sewn hem.

The cushion is finished with three vintage flower shaped buttons, some lace and the word 'smitten' for a simple look. The linen has a been given a rustic feel with a slightly creased look.

The word 'smitten' is machine embroidered using a basic sewing machine fitted with a freehand embroidery foot. I write the word straight onto the fabric and machine embroider the outlines using black thread.

The back of the cushion is in vintage floral fabric.

- Seams zigzagged for durability
- Measures 16" x 12" (40cm x 30cm).
