This is a dramatic piece, probably most suitable for summer although against a plain black or single colour evening dress it could look stunning.
It is made from a very large limpet shell which I found on a local beach, although I have never seen such a large one living locally so I suspect it may have washed in from foreign parts.
The shell is mounted on a backing with rows of vintage and modern beads in white and crystal, with an accent row that have blue centres.
The pendant is a locket, there is a heart shaped locket frame let in to the white leather backing, the frame is also covered in fine white leather. This allows access to the shell's chamber giving a place to keep secrets or good luck charms. There is also a frame for a small picture in the locket's 'lid'.
The Locket hangs from a long necklace of beaded strands in white, crystal and silver with occasional accent sof a larger crystal style bead. The fastening is a large old mother of pearl bead with a loop. Beyond the fastener are a few inches of the beaded strands as a decorative feature. This could be worn at the front making a feature of the fasteing, or at the back particularly with a backless sundress or evening gown.
