Green Egyptian Sea Glass Necklace
£47.00
A stunning necklace influenced by egyptian jewellery. The centre 'stone' is a piece of very dark green sea glass. These very dark green pieces are among the oldest glass found on the beach, thought to date from the 17th century they appear black until you look through them at a light. Very thick but very smooth they tell you they have been in the sea a LONG time.I make the mount for the glass using vintage and modern seed beads and bugle beads, hand stitched. I made the necklace using brick stitch weaving. The beads used in the woven part are all new japanese delicas as they make such a beautiful even fabric when woven together. The golden stripe are seed beads, slightly smaller than the delicas. The necklace is fastened with a large nugget bead of aventurine with a bead loop. At the lower edge are 6 looped strands of beads, vintage seed beads and bugle beads with some more modern beads. the loops finish at a gold coloured accent which is part of an old 70s ring which I cut up. The ring was very gaudy with one of these gold triangles each side of a large purple glass stone! The centre stone and mount of the necklace is backed with black fine leather.
A really elegant and very unusual necklace suitable for everyday with a plain dress or top if you are bold enough, or for evening wear. Not for the shy and retiring amongst us.
