Silk Paper Heart

These handmade silk paper (silk fusion) hearts look lovely hanging in a window, or just anywhere where the lustrous silk fibres can catch the light. The perfect gift for an anniversary, birthday, Valentines Day, or just because!

This heart measures around 10cm (4”) long and 10cm (4”) wide. It is made from natural undyed tussah silk fibres formed into silk paper over a wire frame, and hangs from a matching thread loop finished with a few beads.

If you are not familiar with silk paper, silk fibres are fused together using an adhesive to form a light but very strong papery fabric, and my method of creating the silk paper with an integral wire edge provides additional strength.

Your heart will be carefully packaged in a handmade card envelope tied with a ribbon. I make each heart individually so your heart may differ very slightly from the one in the photograph.
