All of the artwork that I produce is pyrographed by hand onto wood placques or boxes. The term pyrography originates from Greek and means "writing with fire ”. It is the traditional art of using a heated tip or wire to burn designs onto natural materials such as light coloured wood, this allows a great range of natural sepia tones to be achieved. To produce the portraits and boxes, images are hand pyrographed onto beech, sycamore and lime. All of the woods used to produce the plaques and boxes that I use are obtained from managed English forests. The suppliers that I use were chosen for the fact that they care as much for the forests and the wildlife inhabiting them as the quality of their products. I concentrate mainly on wildlife and pet portraits, although occassionally I do enjoy taking commissions for something a little different.
