jennymade's profile

Name: jenny barnett
Gender: Female
Birthday: 1st March 1971

I make ceramic & handmade felt figures, dolls, sculpture and gifts and needle felt creations.

I have worked for many years as a freelance modeller for the giftware trade including Coalport, Wedgwood, Genesis Fine Arts, and Jenny Oliver's faeries and I now create my own range of sculpture based on children, animals, and figures from myth & story. Influences come from dolls, puppetry, and expressions of gesture and mood which I like to suggest in the posing of the figure.

A group of figures can take up to a month to create, as once sculpted they are cast in plaster. Clay is then pressed into the dry mould, and the figure reassembled making each one unique. The clay is twice fired up to 1200 degrees centigrade, coloured with oxides and stained.

The finishing touches are made by taking sheep fleece and turning it into a specially shaped piece of felt to fit the figure like clothing, and various colours can be created.

I am adding new creations to the shop , please contact me if you would like to know more.
Commissions are welcome.
I also hold small workshops in making handmade felt, please email for more information.
