FeatherG's profile
Name: Helen Casey-Green

I'm a print maker working mainly with collographic and some intaglio techniques and also a textile designer-maker, who works with silk and silk velvet, to produce accessories to wear and for the home. All the materials and techniques I employ have a low impact on the environment. As keen photographers my husband Stephen and I record our favourite subject matter, which becomes a constant source of inspiration and reference point for my work in other media.
I have been a print maker for many years. Working from my studio at home I produce very limited edition prints from hand build plates using recycled materials, drawn and cut forms and natural materials such as leaves, printed with oil-based inks onto pH neutral, acid free papers, using a Bewick etching press.
I first started working with textiles, batik in particular when I was a teenager, and I am still developing new tehniques and methods. I have a range of work in Silk: scarves, bags, cushions and accessories for men; and Silk Velvet: stoles, and bags, capes and full-length cloaks; all of which are hand painted from white and hand finished. Techniques include silk screen, hand painting, batik and devoré.
I'm influenced by the natural world both seen and perceived. Often my work represent a feeling or memory of a place or experience, so the viewpoint may be from several perspectives at once, expressed in an abstract form.
